Nonprofit Leadership Workshop-March 19

The “Chatham LIVE” nonprofit leadership workshop will be held on Thursday, March 19 from 9:00 am. until 3:15 p.m. It will take place in the Holmes Meeting Room of the Chatham Community Library, which is located on the campus of Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro.

The workshop will include lunch, which will feature guest speaker Leslie Crutchfield, author of “Forces for Good-The Six Practices of High Impact Nonprofits.” The morning and afternoon sessions will focus on collaboration and board development.

The cost is $30 per person. It includes three educational sessions, lunch catered by the CCCC Culinary Arts program and a copy of the book, “Forces for Good-The Six Practices of High Impact Nonprofits.” Agency directors, staff and board members are encouraged to attend. There is a limited number of scholarships available to agencies that can’t afford the registration fee. Agencies interested in applying for a scholarship should call (919) 545-8044 by Friday, March 6. Scholarship applications will include the nonprofit’s 501(c)(3) number and a brief statement of need.

The “Chatham LIVE” Nonprofit Leadership Workshop is sponsored by Chatham County, Central Carolina Community College, United Way of Chatham County, Triangle Community Foundation and the Chatham Chamber of Commerce. It is a precursor to a six-week class focusing on each chapter of “Forces for Good-The Six Practices of High Impact Nonprofits.” The class will begin in April and will meet once a week from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The cost is $90. There is a limited number of scholarships available for this class to attendees of the workshop. Registration information will be provided at the workshop.

United Way and Chatham County Funding Application Workshop

A workshop to review the Chatham County and United Way funding application, as well as the entire FY16 allocations process, will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. It will take place in the Holmes meeting room of the Chatham Community Library, which is located on the campus of Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro. The components of the application process, criteria used to evaluate proposals and the online application will be reviewed.

It is strongly recommended that all human service nonprofits planning to submit a request for funding attend this workshop. To ensure that there are enough handouts and instructional materials for everyone, please confirm your intention to attend by Friday, January 16 by email at uwaycc@emji.net.

Funding applications must be submitted online by February 28, 2015. A username and password are required to access the application website. Login information will be distributed to agencies applying for the first time during the workshop. The application will be accessible beginning Tuesday, January 20. Last year’s application can be viewed and downloaded from the homepage of the application website in both Word and Adobe formats at: funding.chathamnc.org.

United Way Hosts Board Development Workshop for Member Agencies

This year’s annual workshop for member agencies will be held Wednesday, September 24th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Board development was the most requested workshop subject among member agencies.   It will be facilitated by Mary Alexion and Brenda Pomeroy from Executive Service Corps of the Triangle.
